Vineyard Wedding Travel Options
Transportation to and from Martha's Vineyard can be convenient and
easy. The Island is accessible by ferry, plane or private boat. The
Steamship Authority runs ferry services for walk-on passengers as well
as those with vehicles. The SSA can be reached at (508) 639-9130 or
www.steamshipauthority.com.
Martha's Vineyard Fast Ferry provides ferry service from Quonset Point, Rhode Island to Oak Bluffs, from
May through October. This is the closest ferry to the Providence Airport and Amtrak and they
offer convenient shuttle services to/from the airport and Amtrak. For those who are driving,
dockside parking is available. Martha's Vineyard Fast Ferry can be reached at (401) 295-4040 or
www.vineyardfastferry.com
The Peter Pan Bus Line offers bus service (formerly provided by Bonanza Bus Lines)
to the ferry at Woods Hole in Falmouth from
Logan airport in
Boston and T.F. Green Airport in Warwick.
Peter Pan Bus Lines can be reached at (800) 343-9999 or www.peterpanbus.com.
Commuter and charter planes are also available: reference
www.bigyellow.com to access the Martha's
Vineyard Yellow Pages and search under "Travel Agent" to get help from an experienced agent
on-Island, or search under "Aircraft" and "Airline" to research fares
on your own.
Once you get your guests on-Island, transportation gets even easier.
Most restaurants and shops are concentrated in the business or
downtown districts of the Island's towns, so shopping and dining by
foot is convenient and fun. Taxis and a bus line offer quick service
from place to place; hotel staffs are familiar with the taxi services
and information for the bus can be accessed by calling the Martha's
Vineyard Transit Authority at (508) 693-4633.
Of course, more phone numbers can be found at the
Vineyard Gazette Online Travel section.
For those who will have their own automobiles, clues to the mysteries
of Island navigation can be found in the Martha's Vineyard Detailed
Road Map, which is available in many of the local shops, or by calling
(508) 693-2059. In the interest of fun and reduced stress, though, why
not leave it up to the professionals and enjoy the ride!
